1. State's ‘rainy-day fund' includes local projects (the-messenger.com) — Maysville is set to receive $18 million in state ‘rainy-day’ funds to build a new water treatment plant that will serve Mason and eight surrounding counties. Mayor Debra Cotterill says the upgrade will replace infrastructure dating back to the 1800s, improve water quality, and finally provide enough capacity to support future economic growth. Lawmakers describe the project as part of a broader push for one-time, high-impact investments across Kentucky. 
2. Maysville community continues picking up pieces after severe storms (wlwt.com) — Maysville residents along Maple Leaf Road are still clearing tornado debris and rushing to patch roofs, windows, and damaged homes before more storms move in. Neighbors like Gale Clos and Eleanor Pollock describe severe destruction, from missing decks to smashed cars and barns, and say the emotional toll is compounded by memories of past tornadoes. Officials expect cleanup to stretch on for weeks or even months.
3. National Weather Service confirms at least 6 tornadoes touched down in the Tri-State (wvxu.org) — Maysville was among several Tri-State communities hit when at least six tornadoes touched down on June 18, including an EF2 that struck Mason County. National Weather Service teams say winds reached up to 135 mph in the strongest storms, snapping tree tops and tearing off roofs across Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio. Damage surveys continue, and officials are still finalizing details on the Carroll County tornado.
4. Kentucky Edition June 22, 2026 Episode 413 (pbs.org) — A recent EF2 tornado in Maysville brought 114 mph winds that hurled a 700‑pound four-wheeler nearly 200 feet and damaged multiple homes and businesses, though no injuries were reported. The same Kentucky Edition broadcast also covers heated congressional races, new lawsuits over online prediction markets, and severe flooding solutions elsewhere in the state, but Maysville’s storm stands out as a major local concern. Residents can expect continued coverage as recovery and damage assessments move forward.
